Week 18

Friday night same drill as always The sad thing is Bruce feels good on Thursday and Friday until he takes that damn shot. Saturday he is wiped out again. This Saturday he got up for an hour or so Kylei and the girls came over. Bruce took a nap and moaned on the couch. Kylei says I need to tell the doctor. I of course have told the doctor, but his appointments are on Thursday's. She now understands why I don't sleep well on weekends. Sunday he felt much better.

I am asking doctor about the medical marijuana this week for the nausea and pain, if it works, what the hell I am all for it.

His new drugs finally showed up. So we will start those tomorrow since he had his blood drawn today.

I have made this new blog and moved all the content from the old blog, that one is for our Isla plans.

week 17
We decided to drive over to coast this weekend for a little get away. Bruce had a very restless Friday night after his shot so neither one of us slept well. Saturday it rained, well actually poured most the day. We went downtown Brookings for a few but Bruce was tired and looked pale so we went back to the condo so he could get a nap.

I honestly think he should try some medical marijuana but were both so damn old and straight neither of us has any idea were to get any. Can't imagine going to one of those quack doctors in the Nickle newspaper. Plus I am pretty sure we would get busted since I have no idea how much an ounce is unless it is in a measuring cup or a shot glass. Still crack my self up when I ordered a kilo of turkey at the deli in Mexico, I thought it was something like a pound, nope that would be 2.2 pounds.
We agree we loved staying in Suzie's condo. It is right on the river overlooking the Jetty and opening to the ocean. It is so much more comfortable to have a whole house to come home to and stretch out.
Later we took a drive down to Crescent city casino for a hour or so. Went to dinner at O'hollerans and headed to casino at Smith River. Bruce won a few bucks I ended up even, so all and all a win.
Saturday night was another sleepless night, not sure why but we both tossed all night. I finally got some sleep on the drive home.
I have a busy week ahead, two after work meetings, a yearly board of directors update along with the normal day to day excitement.
Bruce has a doctor appointment next week so he will need to get his blood work done again. Here's hoping his liver enzymes are down.

week #16
This weekend was Kylei's birthday. Bruce took his shot and went to bed fairly early friday night.

I got up Saturday morning to go watch Miss Bella at dance class, she is so cute. When I got home he was up looking pale and determined to cover the pool for the winter. I made him some breakfast and made him take a break. Bruce still has a hacking cough and were waiting on the new prescription to arrive, so tomorrow he will need to call Debzilla and get her to fax it in again. He is suppose to get another blood test but he balks at going because the co-pay is 45.00 and he dosent see the need for more than 1 a month. I kind of agree or I would force him to go get it done. He gets one a month and getting them more frequently wont change his liver enzymes.

This was just not our day, I had promised Kylei i would make dinner for family and friends and keep Glowie for the night so she could go out. When I was opening a can of enchilada sauce I somehow managed to dump almost a full 32 oz can of RED enchilada sauce all over me Bella and the kitchen, all the while poor Glowie as crying for me to come get her in the livingroom. I called Bruce to come help - he thought I was bleeding. I really should have taken pictures, I am sure I would have won funniest home videos if it would have been on tape. Before it was all over I had ripped of my soaked shirt and am topless cleaning up the mess. Bella Glowie and I all had to jump in the bath to get cleaned up.Then low and behold of all days for the sewer to back up today was the day. Bruce made sure our part of the pipes were clean and called the sewer company to come out.. Four or five frustrating calls later we finally got a rotor rooter guy to come clean the line in the neighbors yard. By the time dinner was done we were both beat.

Glowie spent the night but did not sleep well so I was up most the night. We are considering a weekend away with just Bruce and I, have to see how that pans out later this week.

Week #15
Wow - another week down. Bruce took his shot Friday night and slept most the day Saturday. The treatment is still pretty rough on him, he is pale, weak, and nauceous most of the day after his shot. I wish there was something I could do to make it easier on him. Might try making some carrot orange and ginger juice next week see if it will help the nausea.

I sent in the order for the new medication but it has not arrived yet. Bruce has to get a blood test next week, heres praying his liver enzymes are coming down.

Kylei, Bella, Glowie, and I went shopping. Glowie just melts in my arms, something about holding her just puts her to sleep, she is so sweet and cuddley. Bella was a champ shopping and earned a toy for being good.

Kylei's birthday is next week so we will have birthday dinner next Saturday for her at the house. Bella wants to help me cook. Sunday we did not do much took it easy, it was a rainy cold weekend so good weekend to just sleep away.

Kylei and Dylan have decided they want to get married next July on Isla, I have my fingers crossed that Bruce will get a dual celebration giving his daughter away and finishing his treatments. We have lots to get done so Kylei needs to choose her date and we need to start making plans.

shot #14
This week was a bear for Bruce. He is getting a new computer at work so had to go to work Saturday morning at 8 for training. He looked white as a ghost but he headed out, all the while me telling him to bag it. When he dosent rest Saturday he feels crappy all weekend, which is what happened this weekend. He felt so bad Sunday afternoon he went down to bed. He is complaining he has no energy and is out of breath all the time. I wish he would listen to me and slow down. Hopefully he will feel better tomorrow. I wish there was something I could do to help him feel better but I cant seem to stumble on the answer.

Bella spent Friday night with us. She is really at that challenging age. You know she challenges everything, gaining her independence. Great except when she dosent listen and refuses to mind. We played a 30 minute stay in the naughty spot for time out today. At one point she wanted to make a game laughing all the way , didnt work I won and she spent her time in time out. My arms ache from carrying her back to her spot. I am going to have to read up on her zodiac sign see if I can get a better grip on her. Glowie got her 1st shots and didnt feel well Saturday night bless her heart. Monkey came to visit for dinner Sunday so I got to see them all this weekend.

12 week lab results

12 week doctor visit
This was the Dr appointment we had been waiting for. Studies show that by this point if he is responding as they would like that his viral load would be "0". Unfortunately Bruce still has a viral load of 39 which means that he is a slow responder.
Plus his liver enzymes are still way to high. Before we went in I had done some research that shows adding Amantadine another anti viral has been used in slow responders. So the Doctor looked it up on the computer and gave us a prescription for this drug also. Because he is not at zero viral load he may now have to continue treatment for 72 weeks. There is a new drug being tested that is expected to be released in 2011 or 2012.

Bruce needs to stop taking any tylenol and get a blood test in 2 weeks to check his liver enzymes.Wish it was better news but we will just have toi adjust or expectations and move ahead.

Week & shot #13
We headed to Sunriver Friday after work to spend the weekend with some old friends. It was great to get together and remanise. We have been friends since Travis was about 2 so we had lots to laugh about. Friday night Bruce took his shot when we headed to bed. Another restless night for him, there has to be some way for him to get some rest, I think we need to try Trazadone again. He was beat most of the weekend. I am getting worried about him loosing so much weight, he dosent eat like he should. He feels too skinny when I hug him. He says he has no energy which pisses him off. I think he needs to give himself a break but he wont listen to my nagging.I am not happy with the cough either. Maybe I will ask for a chest xray at his next appointment. It is hard to see him feeling so shitty and not anything I can do to help.

39 more weeks to go - we will make it but I will not kid you on how rough it is.

Week 12

Shot #12
Bruce says -- cant we do a couple shots of Jack Daniels instead --- WOW I would love that but NO it wont work. He is such a trooper.

Bella spent the night she is sure lost since sister arrived, getting real aggresive. I really dont remember what I asked her to do, but she said NEVER, well you can imagine how that went over NOT. Told her excuse me but you will come sit here until you loose the tude.

That little girl thinks to sleep she has to practically strangle me in a neck lock(think wrestling). I think I slept maybe 4 hours. This morning was her 1st dance class. She put on her "tutu" and headed out, cute as can be. Her Mom has earned a free trip around the world for patience, Yaya maybe to the next town. I can not abide by rude kids, so Bella gets to spend her fair share of time in TIME- OUT. Honestly she is the same sweet girl we know but she needs to know her limits. What a handful and god bless I am so thankful for that, she is smart and crafty so she will have a great life once she learns the rules.

I gave Bruce a couple Trazadone to sleep, which thank god he did until about 5:30. Then Bella stuck her finger in his mouth to see how his teeth were LOL. He got up with her around 7:30, made her oatmeal with honey and butter, she did not eat much.At 8:00 I got up to make him a breakfast burrito. He ate it and took a 4 hour nap YES. We ran to Wally world but he was spent so we can home for a nap.My little blue eyed angel Monkey came down to see Yaya that girl loves graham crackers and water, no seperate, she eats graham crackers and drinks water like it is beer LOL

Maybe tonight we can go to dinner, but what I definately notice is Bruce shots dont seem as bad or as painful on Isla. Maybe we should go there for the next 40 weeks. Actually I think is it he is not busting butt on Isla, like his job here, and he is so worried about working here. I say "F" it stay home and relax, but he wont, says he feels needs to pull his weight. Honestly pulling his weight to me is being alive so we can live our life together, I can make the money. But he is a MAN.

My Dr. wants to take me off my drugs for Lupus as it is giving me many splotches on my skin, he also wants a Hep C test, which I said OK but I dont want the results. If my liver starts to have problems we will know then. He is concerned about my tiredness and aches. Whatever... I am good to go.

Week #11 9-4-09
Still on vacation. Bruce has been enjoying his new motorcycle, he finds many reasons each day to run get something or the other. I am glad he is enjoying it but same time I worry about safety with the way cabs drive around here.We had a nice dinner at French Bistro and headed home. We eat dinner late on Isla because it doesnt cool off until after dark. Bruce had a nice big T-Bone maybe a full tummy will help him sleep, I had kebobs. Both were very good.We took a leisurely drive around the island home. When we almost made it home there were 3 motorcycles and a cop car chasing down a bull that got away from the rodeo last week. They have been chasing 4 of them all week trying to catch them. Dang thing almost run into our golf cart he was more scared then we were.Bruce took his shot and we headed to bed with A/C on. Not much sleep again. We got up early had BLT's from Elements very good. Bruce took a short hammick nap and we played tourists in the afternoon doing some shopping. Stopped by Soggy Peso for pineapple juice and a pina coloda for me.We go home early Sunday so we make it an early evening.I am very curious about his test results. He needs to be a 0 virual count by week 12. My fingers are crossed

Week #10 8-29-09
We have been relaxing and taking it easy all week but today is the day for his shot. We brought 2 shots with us in a case with ice packs. We are on a 2 hour time difference so we have been rising really early with the sun and staying up reading each night. We came home from dinner and town to find the washer had overflowed and we had 6" of water in the laundry room. Luckily it is a stepdown and we spend about an hour bailing out water. I wonder what it is about water and my houses some karma for sure. When we finished Bruce took his shot and tossed and turned all night. Neither of us slept much. It has been very hot so I had turned on the A/C to try to make him comfortable but no such luck. What I have discovered is if I make him drink some fresh orange juice first thing in morning then eat breakfast and take a morning/afternoon nap he feels much better sooner. We had breakfast at the loncheria's and headed home so he could nap. He fell asleep in his new hammick for a couple hours and felt much better when he woke up.He is still loosing weight, me I am gaining, seems to happen when I stress and I am stressed over him. It is hard having him not feel well. It's the little things you take for granted. All the little things he does to help out that he just dosent feel up to. Makes it hard. I know he wants to feel good and do things but the reality is he doesnt and is very tired most of the time.Been using magic jack for US phone calls and works great and free calls so I can talk to the kids any time I want.

Week 9

August 21, 2009

week #9 8-21-09
Bruce and I have to get up early and fly tomorrow to Isla. We are both looking forward to the trip but I am worried he will be sick while flying. We got up early 4 am to head out. Long flights and Bruce was uncomfortable the whole way. Two little boys behind us kicking seats, 3 more across the isle so no rest on the flight from Salt Lake to Cancun. We get settled have dinner a quick swim and head to bed.His aches seem to get a little more tolerant as time goes by.We have 2 weeks to relax and enjoy.

We got the drugs

We got the drugs
Sure enough Tuesday a 3 month supply of Pegasys and copegus showed up. Looks like he can stay on treatment for at least 3 more months. Another scorcher out there today 109. Think we are all ready for vacation yahoo

Week 8

Week #8
Shot night again. Bruce has not been sleeping after he takes his shot, he goes to bed and tosses and turns moans and in general dosent sleep. I tried sleeping upstairs last week thinking maybe I was keeping him up since I roll around frequently when i sleep, but he said no it didnt help a bit. At the Dr visit this week I asked if it would be ok to give him a ambien for sleep. He said sure so I gave him on one of mine. He slept like a log I thought he would be estatic, but he said he felt groggy and drunk when he got up. I think the sleep did him good but not the hangover. He still has an awful hacking cough so were trying a different antibiotic and an inhaler. I sure hope it works. I feel so bad for him when he feels like crap and there is not a thing i can do to help. While he was still sleeping I got a call from his insurance saying they needed to make delivery arrangements for his 3 month Pegasys prescription, as they must be refrigerated. Yep the same insurance company who said that he could not have any refills unless his test results from week 12 met their approval. Who am I to argue with a delivery clerk, I was more than happy to give her my work address for delivery on Tuesday. We will see if they catch their error of if we get 12 more weeks of shots. She said the co pay was $400.00 but I know the drugs are about $8,000.00 so I just gave her the visa to charge it to. Last time our co-pay was $210.00 so if the drugs show up I will call and figure out the difference. We ran got a sandwich for lunch and came home so he could take a nap. Monkey came over for a few hours while Mom and Dad went to a tattoo contest with her Dad at a local bar in town. Bella came over to play for awhile and we had homemaid mac & cheese for dinner. They took a bath together and I took a couple cute picturesSunday morning we got up and tackled packing for our trip next Saturday. I am sure hoping Bruce does ok getting up early to fly out, maybe he can sleep on the flight.I am excited to head out on vacation.

Doctor Appt.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Dr appt today
Not exactally what I wanted to hear. Insurance crap. If Bruce does not get to "0" virus load and lower his liver enzyemes by 12 weeks his insurance plans to not pay for his treatment. OUCH those shots and pills were 8 grand for 3 months. I hate to think he is suffering these symptoms weekly and it is not really working. We know it is working because his viral load went way down so that is good.. but his ALT is not going down, so it is safe to say that the liver is still inflamed.I have to trust this will all correct itself by 12 weeks, or why would we put him thru this crap weekly. We are getting excited about vacation, our "new to me" golf cart will be waiting for us at the ferry. We get Monkey duty Saturday, I know Ms Bella want so stay nite before we co on vacation so we will work that out this weekend too. I got the absolute sweetest granddaughters in the world, how lucky can I get.

Week 7

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Week 7
Bruce and I went to Ashland last night to a Shakespear play, All's well that ends well. He was tired so we left a little early. He came home and took his shot. He has been short of breath for the last couple weeks but I read it is a side effect of the drugs. I slept on the couch thinking he would get a better rest with out me tossing around. I guess not he said he did not sleep well. He slept in until about 10:30 but when he came upstairs he looked pale and sick. I told him to laydown. He can not stand doing nothing but he finally gave in and laid on the couch. He slept most of the afternoon. By dinner he felt a little better. He seems to be losing weight. He got dizzy a couple times and almost blacked out. Debzilla said there is nothing to give him to raise his white blood count. Tomorrow I am going to go to the health food store and see if they have anything. His cough is back also.Monkey came stayed with us this afternoon. She is such a happy girl, smiles all the time. She looks so much like her daddy did when he was her age, brings back memories.

Week 6 & lots going on

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Lots going on
Debzilla finally called back. Guess who she called - ya not me - Bruce. Luckily I had e-mailed him my concerns because I more or less expected she would call him not me. Says Dr does not recommend Tamiflu because he is on a strong antiviral now.
His white count is low but not much he can do naturally to boost it, the shots and pills are causing this. He was only on treatment last time for 40 weeks - no wonder he had a relapse - treatment is suppose to be 48 to 52 weeks.
We are headed to Isla in 24 days and yes I am counting. Today I found a Golf cart and motor scooter to buy from a friend on Isla who has a house there but is selling it. We will check them out when we are there and if all is fine they will cash the check Isent them. It will be nice not to have to rent a cart. They get pretty expensive when you add it up, so in the long run this should be a savings. Bruce is excited about the moto it is a Honda wave with only about 500 miles on it.
Bruce has been helping Travis for the last couple weeks rip out his old pool and deck and install a new pool and rebuild the deck. Major progress the pool is now up. I didnt get to see it because I had a work dinner meeting but tomorrow I am going to go look.
Bruce did better sleeping after his shot but I am worring he is doing to much. I got up and went upstairs to the couch early because I was not sleeping and I was tossing and wanted himt to get some rest. He is brusing really easy and is covered in scratches and pokes from helping Travis work on the deck. He just cant seem to help himself he cant seem to not jump in and help. He loves pounding nails and using that skill saw, but most of all he loves helping his son work on things. I guess I will have to rein him in. He is looking pale to me. He needs to slow down a bit before he crashes hard and burns. Mom says he is loosing weight and I agree.

We had a nice BBQ at Travis and LeeAnne for my birthday.

My granddaughters are so cute, Addison is a little girl now she walks everywhere. She looks so much like her daddy to me, it brings back memories of that cute little boy that was mine. Well he is still cute but you forget how damn cute they were when they were little.

Bella has turned into Miss "Attitudey" -- I call her Miss Tudey, she needs to bargain or argue about almost everything, I forgot what 3 was. She is getting brave in the pool, man she is strong she can pull herself up and over the side all by herself.

Glowie is sweet as ever. Feels so good to lay her on my chest and put her to sleep. She actually seems to like to be kissed on the cheeks, she smiles at me.

Tonight was a thunder and lighting show with a little rain, man I hope no fires get started. It has been hot hot hot here. Tomorrow were having a BBQ for Bruce's new co workers.

Week 5

Sunday, July 26, 2009

shot # 5
Bruce is doing much better with the side effects of his shot .. We have started him taking 2 extra strength Tylenol half hour before the shot and planning on him staying in bed late Saturday morning 10 to 11 am and he is doing much better.

This Saturday after he got up he went down and helped our son with a major project he is taking on. My son and his wife bought the house he was born in from us a few years ago and he is raising his family there just like we did. He is removing the pool we put in before he was born and he is 30 this year. They are pulling up the old redwood deck to repair replace and straighten the understructure of the deck relevel and give it a face lift . My how time flys -I am trying to figure out which one of us me or the deck needs more cosmetic work LOL -- now if I only weighted the 114 I did then, I think that damn deck lost some weight but not me HAHA .

It is hot hot hot here they are saying it was to be 108 today but I think more like 104 but that is hot enough. Our "girls" the 2 dogs are panting like there is no tomorrow. I think we need to dunk them in the pool but Bruce says it is too hot. Sometimes I dont get his logic.

We scored today. We took care of Glowie for a few hours so Bella could spend some time alone with her mom and dad out at the fair. We thought Bella would love to dump her sister and spend some special time without baby sister. She gave me a lecture about having to give Glowie back when they were done at fair which i promised i would, I told her i was only borrowing her for a few hours I guess she kind of cried and wanted to go back and get her sister after they drove off without her, how sweet.

Starting to get ready for our vacation to Isla end of August - I always pack all this crap down in my suit case and this time is no exception so I guess I need to get out the space bags and start smashing those towels and comforter and wall hangings down so they fit.

Blood Work

Friday, July 24, 2009

latest blood work
Today Debzilla called to give Bruce the latest bloodwork results -- good news his viral load of 9 million has decreased to 30 thousand -- YAHOO - but his white count is down - like I thought he needed an antibotic to ward off that cold. I asked him what they planned to do about the white count and of course he does not know, never asked just wote it down to tell me. I guess I will call Debzilla Monday to find out the plan.Tonight is shoot #5 -- I wish him peaceful and pain free night so he can rest and heal.

Horray for Antibotics

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

HORRAY for antibotics
Got home Sunday night and I promptly pulled out my Mexican Amoxicillan and told Bruce to take 2 and don't come home tomorrow unless he has seen the Doctor. I told him to fess up to the Doctor that I made him take the Amoxicillian. Doctor took a look and said your wife is a good Doctor you need Amoxicillian for 10 days. Today Bruce is much better than he has been in 2 weeks. He gave me his cold but so far my body seems to be fighting it off just fine.

Week 4

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Week 4
We grabbed Bella and headed to Sunriver for the weekend. Bruce took his shot before bed. He has an awful cough, sounds like he is coughing up a lung or something. I am going to make him see his Doc on Monday. He is not sleeping and were both getting exhausted and Ithink he has managed to give me his cold. Of course I dont have a lowered immune system. I have been shoving vitamin C and cough suppresant down him to no avail but he seems worse to me. He just needs to catch a break and get to feeling better. We took Bella to town for a Dandy Burger and some shopping. That girl loves to shop, but she honestly never shuts up chatter chatter chatter. She was so happy she found a pair of shinny black shoes, quite the little fashion statement she is. Already knows exactally what she likes and what she dosent want. She is so sweet but I pity her teacher when she gets in school LOL.Came home she took a nap and then we walked to village for dinner and playing in the jumping blow up exhibits. Got scared once and Papa had to rescue her. Came home watched a couple movies. Finally got Bella to sleep around 11:30.Trav called and said he mowed our yards while we were gone, what a good son. Bruce does not need to be in the 100 plus heat mowing yards when he gets home. The new roof on the house looks great.Today I need to get busy and clean this place up, we have renters coming in on Tuesday. It is amazing how much of a mess one little 3 year old can make.

Blood Test results

Thursday, July 16, 2009

blood test is back
Debzilla called Bruce to tell him his latest blood test results were good. He asked her to fax a copy and of course he has not received it. Hope they come soon god forbid Ihave to call and speak to her. We are taking Bella and heading to Sunriver tomorrow after work. We have a new roof on the house and I am anxious to see it.It has finally become summer around here been 100 last couple days.

Worn out

Monday, July 13, 2009

Worn Out
Bruce is starting to get worn out pretty easy. He feels like he just hits a wall. I encourage him to just stop and rest but he is having no part of it. I bought some subliminal B so hopefully that might help a bit. I really dont like the cough he has sounds like a smokers cough. He has a Dr appointment tomorrow so we should see his if his blood count.

Friday week 3

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Friday shot #3
Bruce took his 3rd shot last night – Bella is spending the night and “Glowie” will be coming over to spend night a little later. We are so lucky to have 3 beautiful healthy granddaughters and it has been so long since I snuggled and slept with a tiny baby, I can hardly wait. Tomorrow is Monkey’s 1st birthday party, man time flies. Bruce took his shot about 8:30 Kylei came with the baby he held her and Bella in his chair and was fighting sleep. Bella wanted to go to bed so they headed to bed about 9:30.. Aylah (my Glowie) slept on the couch with me. About 15 minutes later Bella is back up stairs. By 11:30 I finally get Bella to sleep, but I just know Glowie will be hungry so I hold off going to bed to feed her 1st. Finally around 1:30 I feed her change her and we head to bed. Bruce me and Glowie are all in our king bed, Bella has her one blow up bed on the floor beside me. Well I just about get to sleep and Bella wants in bed with me too.. OK hop in. Poor Bruce moans in his sleep I feel bad for him he can’t be sleeping very well. Bella finally back to sleep and I move her to end of bed cover her up and finally now I can sleep. Well I snuggle in with that sweet new baby. Gosh , I had totally forgot the total joy it is to have such a tiny sweet baby dependant on you. I am so glad my daughter trusts me to keep her at such a young age. It was the nicest present I have had in a very long time. By 4:30 Glowie and I head upstairs to the couch, she is restless and Bruce and Bella need their rest. I haven’t been traveling lately and I haven’t seen many real late night infomercials, but low and behold they have new makeup that you can air brush on the wonders never cease. Finally at 5 or so I get my baby and me to sleep on the couch. Her momma shows up early and sees us sleeping so she takes the other couch. I am a bit tired today myself – but it was so worth it.Bruce felt better this morning after sleeping in but by evening he was sore again. Tomorrow should be better, he is really brave to put up with this crap. Only 49 more weeks.

Debzilla

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Debzilla
On the way home from Reno Bruce was pretty sore I asked him when he goes in to get his blood draw. He says they never called him back so I decided to call his Dr. Monday. Naturally both he and his nurse were out Monday so I left a message for one of them to call me so I could get to the bottom of the blood test deal. Tuesday his Dr nurse Debbie called me back and lashed into to me when i told her Bruce had started taking his shots and I wanted to know when they would test his blood. She told me Bruce was not on treatment because he had not met with her and the Dr would drop him from treatment and he needed to sign some paper. Of course she is the person who ordered the medications to be sent to us and told Bruce she could not meet with him for 3 weeks when he called to tell her he got the drugs and would start them that friday but whatever. Calling a person who I watch suffer thru these side effects irresponsible was my breaking point. I told her I was simply calling because since Bruce had been on this treatment before I was positive he needed blood tests. She as an absolute bitch so I waited for her to finish ranting and told her I would not be threatened or imtimidated by her and she had a very rude and demeaning attitude so please just have the Dr call me I didn’t have time to argue with her. Well I imagine that does not happen to her often because she totally changed her tune. I told her Bruce would call her to schedule his appointment to sign her damn paper. Of course she was nice as pie when he called but I have now renamed her “Debzilla”. I guess you just dont expect this kind of treatment from someone in the medical profession. From now on she will be refered to as Debzilla.

Still Achy

Still Achy
Bruce went to work today but he feels like he has a flu. Arms legs neck and shoulders all ache. hopefully tomorrow it will be better and he can have a few good days. Monday, July 6, 2009

Reno Trip

Reno Trip
We had a great time. Didnt win any money but the time together was fun and relaxing. We found a much sought after piggy bank for my new granddaughter. No all 3 girls have fancy piggy banks at YaYa and PaPa's.Made an early night of Saturday night so Bruce could take his shot. He seemed better this time. I can tell he feels awful but he just guts up and bears it.

A little better today
Today not as many aches mostly neck and shoulders now but not looking too great. He threw up his breakfast. Last time after a couple weeks some of the side effects subsided so hopefully that will happen again this time. Just have to remember we give up a year but last time we gained 5 so that is a good deal, one worth taking. We should get a new granddaughter by next Friday – Kylei was due on the 26th and she is having random labor just hasn’t gotten strong enough yet, but if it doesn’t she will be induced next Thrusday night. YA HOO we both cant wait to hold and kiss that baby.I am off to grocery store - YUK

a whole new journey 6-26-09

Bruce and I start a whole new journey this week. One we really hoped never to take again but none the less were on it. Bruce has Hepatitis C has had if for years at least since his late 20's and we honestly have no idea how he got it. Five years ago he went through treatment with Pegasys and Copegus for about 40 weeks. The results were good for 2 years but then the virus started kicking back up. Last week he had a new liver biopsy and his liver damage is now a stage 2 level 2 so unfortunately that means going through the treatment again. This treatment involves weekly shots of the Pegasys (peginterfetron alfa-2a) self administered and twice daily Copegus pills every day. These are Chemo drugs so side effects can be a real bear. These drugs are incredibly expensive so were very thank we have insurance. The drugs for 12 weeks cost about $10,000.00, don’t even get me started on how drugs are priced but thank god we have scientist that develop them and companies make and distribute them. Bruce took his 1st shot last night it was a rough night. I have to preface this with the fact that I have lived with Bruce for 30 or so years and he is one tough guy. He rarely ever complains about anything, when he feels bad he just guts up and bears it. Last night was his 1st shot. About 30 minutes after the shot he got a bad taste in his mouth and started feeling achy and went to bed. By the time I came down about 2 hours later he was up and feeling nauseous in the bathroom. He made it back to bed and poor guy tossed and turned and moaned in his sleep all night. This morning he says everything hurts even his knuckles. I put some cold rags on his head and gave him some Tylenol. We don’t remember the symptoms being this bad last time but I do have to say time has a way of letting you forget some of the details. On the bright side Bella spent the night with us last night, so we had plenty of entertainment
